The Freuchie 2005 Results

The Freuchie is a complimentary but serious competition organised by the Scottish Smallbore Rifle Association and is recognised as the Scottish Matchplay 50 metres championship for the Wilkinson Sword. It is shot over 4 stages of elimination with the competitors firing in groups of 2 in the first stage and 3 in the later stages with the best score out of 200 going forward to the next stage. This competition also include a final for the C & D competitors who progress furthest through the knockout stages with the winner of that final taking home the Sgian Dubh.

The trophies for this competition are restricted to members of the SSRA but the competition is not restricted and enjoys entries from all over the British Isles.

After the second stage, 9 competitors survive, including 2 C class shooters, one of whom is Kay Copland from Banff, a member of the Scotland Junior squad. Kay meets her father Bill in her group in the semi-final on Thursday.

Kay also qualifies for the C &D final with Nicola Sammels from Edinburgh, another junior, and Chris Burrow, a visitor from 'over the Ord' and 'beyond the Cheviot'.
