The Early Birds Competition (Competition 7)
Squadded - 20 shots at 50 metres, 20 shots at 100 yards

The first squadded competition of the meeting was shot in challenging conditions, or, according to one competitor, intermittent gales. The wind had settled from the east and held the wind flags at the horizontal.

Gordon Motion, a member of the Scotland squad from which the next Commonwealth Games team will be selected, led the way in X class with 379 x 400 for the Dewar course of fire, i.e. 20 shots each at 50 metres and 100 yards, with Keith Ridgway, a member of the Great Briatin team going to the USA for the Pershing match next month, was one point behind on 378, but with a better score at 100 yards.
