Bus Tour of Caithness To assist visitors in sampling the rich heritage and spectacular scenery offered by Caithness, a bus tour has been arranged for Tuesday 5th July. The bus will be driven by a local driver and an entertaining and informative commentary will be provided throughout the trip. The bus tour will pick up in Wick, Thurso and also at the Thurdistoft range. The tour will start with a visit to Dunnet Head, the most notherly point on the British Mainland, before taking a back-road near Mey to offer an alternative view of The Castle of Mey, a former residence of the late Queen Mother. A short stop is planned at Canisbay Kirk, where the Queen Mother worshipped during her visits to Caithness and then on to Duncansby Head and the Stacks of Duncansby. There will be a lunch stop at John O'Groats, with enough time available to browse through the gift shops and museum. The tour will then progress down to the east coast to Keiss where there will be views over Keiss Castle, Old Keiss Castle and Keiss Harbour and then on to Noss Head to see Sinclair and Girnigoe Castles. Finally, there will be a short tour of Wick to see the Heritage Centre, Pulteneytown and to view the harbour area before returning to the range at Thurdistoft via Thurso. So if you are not shooting on Tuesday, why not have a relaxing day touring Caithness with the family. Depending on demand, it is possible that a further tour could be around for Wednesday 6th July.
